Suits to match your wedding venue, part 1 traditional venues. In this blog we are looking at more traditional wedding venues. Including sporting venues, country manor houses, country clubs and historical wedding venues. If your wedding has a more or a rustic, outside, boho theme please check out our blog 'Suits to match your wedding venue - al fresco wedding venues'.

Seems a strange thing to think about but certain suits can work better in certain locations and venues. After all a classic black tailcoat could look rather odd stood on a beach in the Caribbean! Although it is a small part in choosing what suit to wear it maybe helpful to keep in mind the style, vibe and wedding venue when choosing your wedding suit. Here are a few suggestions from us when it comes to picking the right suit for your special day. Along with some of our wonderful Essex, Suffolk and London venues that our customers use regularly.

Sporting venues

For the sporty couples out there maybe you've chosen a venue where you can get close to your favourite past time. Perhaps you chose your venue as you both like cheer home the same horse past the winning post. Alternatively choosing a golf club & playing golf could be the ideal way you relax on the morning of your big day.

Sharp and smart is what I always think of at a sporting wedding venue. Think of the Olympians in their opening ceremony finest. Above are a few of our Grooms sporting that look. We think our royal blue, steel blue and ink blue hire suits all create this kind of vibe. Contrast suits also look really sharp at a sporting wedding venue.

Country Manor house wedding venues

We have a number of large country manor house hotels in and around the Essex & Suffolk areas. It's a wonderful feeling when you're being driven from the church to know you're heading to a country manor hotel. The journey up the long winding driveway to these glamorous places is second to none.

Smart, elegant with a twist of modern. That is what tends to look amazing in a classic country manor house venue. Classic styles such as dinner suits and tailcoats always work well in these wedding venues.

Within our dinner suit hire range we offer a classic black shawl colour and peak collar dinner suit as well as a modern royal blue DJ. Our light weight slim fit hire tailcoat collection is available in classic black, navy, royal blue, grey and charcoal grey. Of course should you wish to treat yourself you could have a custom made or full made-to-measure suit too.

Country club hotel wedding venue

The classic Country Club or hotel wedding venue. Traditionally one of the most popular venues for classic English weddings. A great place where you can accommodate all your wedding guests under one roof. Ideal if you have a large wedding guest list of friends and family.

These venues always work well with any suit choice. We have found that our Grooms seem to prefer a lounge suit over tailcoats for this kind of venue. Trending at the moment are dinner suits which look great in these venues too.

We can offer hire dinner suits in black with shawl collar, black with a peak lapel, white with a shawl collar and royal blue with a shawl collar within our hire ranges. Our hire lounge wear suits are available in navy, black and grey light weight wool, ink blue, silver grey and charcoal grey barberis fabric along with royal blue and steel blue mohair. Plus our specialist Prince of Wales, tweed and lambs wool ranges. On top of that we also offer custom suits and full made-to-measure wedding suits.

Historical building wedding venue

If you've booked your historical castle or Grand House is Essex it's probably one of these three. Steeped in history and having that wonderful fairy tale castle feel to them makes these wedding venues extra special.

Traditional tailcoats have been worn for weddings for years. Which is why they always look amazing in historical buildings. Although wearing morning suits for weddings only date back to the 18th century they have that timeless elegance that still keep them popular with todays Grooms. From our hire collection we can offer tailcoats in navy, black and grey light weight wool, traditional charcoal grey herringbone and royal blue mohair. Tailcoats are also available made-to-measure.

Having said all that Mr Dean & his Ushers all wore tweed suits which looked great set on the back drop of Layer Marney Towers. The texture and colours of tweed suits look amazing next to the historical brick work. We run tweed suits in all our collections, hire, custom made and full made-to-measure.
